This is a cool forum. I found it looking for cutting board ideas, but figured I might as well post some of my projects as well.

I built this for my AV system last year… I wanted something low and with a solid front and rounded corners so that the sound would be minimally impacted (diffraction, you know). The back is open for cooling and interconnections. It is made of curly cherry faced plywood and solid figured maple for the doors. The doors have glass inserts and are hung on soft-close Euro hinges. The shelves are 1/4” glass. I like the way it came out. I posted it on the AVS forum, and someone asked me for plans – so I wrote them up. They are attached as well. Oh, that’s me in one of those pictures. The 70” TV is awesome! The speaker and subwoofer cabinets were built by me as well, but that’s a story for another day.

Nice build! That fits the size and the scale of the electronics quite well.
I also like the figured maple.

When my mother-in-law looks at my furniture, which I build with figured oak, she points out the ray flecks and says “too bad about this”.

Yeah, too bad.

Looks spectacular! Like the choice of wood, finish and the handles. Really love the sturdy and sleek design.

Have your say...
