The Black Rose is actually Burmese Blackwood, and it hides or holds a special bottle stopper. I started with the bottle stopper, and then thought that it should have a vase to sit in when not in use. Turned out (pun intended) rather well. The pictures are difficult because it truly is very black, but when I put it in the window for light, it looks washed out. In reality it’s quite black with just a hint of those lighter grain lines. Picture 3 is pretty close to how it looks in normal light.

Stands 6” tall in the vase, and 2” at the rosebud bulb area. Finished with EEE polish and Mylands Friction polish.

That’s two Stephanie

Good looking Scott and a good idea with the stand. Someone will probably buy this, put it on a shelf and 20 years later one of their kids will discover it is a bottle stopper!

That’s a fantastic piece turned from great wood. Like the dark color, finish and the idea on the vase.
