I decided to join the Wine Bottle Balancer club. First, I just wanted to give it a try – amazingly it worked. Second, I wanted to try working with rough sawn wood. This is what I came up with. I have a few more on the go.

Looks great. Take a look at my jigs for drilling and cutting the board. I have done some with inlays that have come out good.

Very nice, Radu :-) What kind of wood and finish did you use?

Thanks guys. The wood is cedar – fence boards from HD, two boars glued up. On one, the finish is just clear shellaq. One the other one is gelled stain, then coated with shellaq. Distressing the edges was the hardest part.
