Cherry Logs to Flitch

Cherry Logs to Flitch Cherry Logs to Flitch Cherry Logs to Flitch Click the pictures to enlarge them

This is the pics of the cherry logs I was referring to earlier. I have decided not to sell them to a veneer mill and go ahead and saw them into flitches. I ended up getting two trees that ended up yielding 7 pcs of butt log. They are perfect! No knots, no shake and no rotting on the inside. I will keep posting pics of the process as I flitch cut them on my mill. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

looks pretty cool.
I hope to someday be able to mill my own lumber.
I like the idea of taking a project from log to completed furniture.

Jeff, great find and good decision to keep the lumber! I look forward to seeing the lumber as you begin cutting it.

Did you happen to get a picture of the tree before it was harvested? That would be way cool!

I can see some beautiful projects in there. I agree that you made the right decision.

I would love to have them setting in my yard ready to mill, those look like some real beauties. Flitch sawn they will sure be pretty, good call for keeping them…I would pick out one biggin’ that has the pith centered (you have 3 it looks like that would do) and 1/4 saw that puppy.
