OK so this is the next Project for me… My 2yr old is ready for her own bed. She loves hiding and stuff so I want to build her a maze bed. This will be varnished so I am thinking Oak Ply. But I don’t have a vision for much besides the maze. It will be a twin size bed (3’x6’). Total size 4.5’x7’
I am looking for Ideas for the head and foot board and theme. All Ideas welcome:

I can picture my 4 year old hiding in there after being naughty so she can’t be caught!
it is a cool design though.

I would make sure there is a way to get her safely out if she were in there.

A trap door on the front should give me access. Drilling some holes for her to pep through may provide a way for me to keep an eye on her too.

For the headboard, how about a ball maze, with slanted pieces that you can roll a ball down, and some slots where you can put small boards to change the route the ball takes?

Great Idea. Toddlers love being inside of things things. Are you putting railings around the bed? I am not sure how high off the ground she will be, but I would hate to think of her falling out of bed. I am not sure how easily she will take to the new bed, but I would suggest something that doesn’t give her too many things to do rather than sleep.

Bob,
I like the ball maze, but a removable ball would just get lost. I’ve seen toys with the ball was trapped in a routed slot. Not sure how they did that. (lamination probably) But the movable blocks sug. gave me an idea for the head board.
What do yall think of a Sliding Block Puzzle with ABCs on the blocks for the head board?
I’l post the pic of the IDEA.

Great idea! definately put in a trap door – I’d never get my little one out of there otherwise.
The headboard idea is great too – definately would be a hard puzzle to get back to alpha order – certainly a quieter way to pass the early hours before mom and dad are awake and want to hear balls rolling around – I was going to suggest a Plinko sort of thing for the headboard – but I’d never hear the end of it!
