Getting back into the swing of woodworking this year with a simple, quick project. A tablet stand for my daughter made from reclaimed Spotted Gum. Busted this out in about half a day. Some inspiration from here I like the lipped groove, thanks Page2171.

I worked out the dimensions I wanted then glued up a block to start. I used the table saw at full tilt and full extension (scary) as well as a sacrificial fence, stop blocks and a few clamps to keep my hands well out of the way. I tidied up the bottom of the groove with chisels, hand planed a chamfer in the front and relieved all the edges with sandpaper. I finished it with a coat of shellac and two coats of wipe-on poly with a light sanding in between.

Thanks for looking.

Cool, should be useful.

Very nice. Looks quite weighty! I like it,
