This was made from an off cut from an English walnut stock blank.
I have a friend that is a fabulous stockmaker and he gives me his scraps sometimes. It would make you cry to see what he burns in his wood stove.
The bowl is my best piece that I have turned so far, the wall thickness is very uniform, it is very thin and lightweight.
Approximately 6”x 3”x 3/8”
Finish is 2 coats of shellac and about 12 coats of wipe on poly.
-- The only thing wrong with instant gratification is that it's not fast enough. Bake, Bar Lazy U Woodworks, Lehi,UT.

Wow. It is amazing how a simple shape, done well can expose the true beauty of the wood. Very nice job, I aspire to turn one as good as this someday.

Really rich. That shellac really seals up the grain nicely. I forgot to do that on a bowl and it took 10 coats of poly just to seal it up.
I’d like to try a quasi french polish on one only with 2lb shellac cut, about 150 coats just to say I did it.
