OK, So this is not relay wood (MDF) but it was one of the things I “finished”. And I got to use my Skillsaw, Jigsaw, Orbital Sander, Shopvac, Hamer, Drill, MitterSaw, and a friend’s Router (now I have my own.)

I love it. I’m sure your daughter does too. I will have a daughter of my own real soon and I am already dreaming of the projects.

I am in the process to designing daughter #2’s 1st bed. Her’s will have a craw space/maze under the bed and will be varnished instead of painted.

That’s pretty cool. My daughter might have something like that in her future.

Looks like real roofing shingles! nice touch. Is that a second bed on top, or a play area?

Roger- The roofers left a pack of shingles when they did the house. I had to sweep and vacuum it for the 1st couple of weeks but I haven’t had to do it sense. I designed the top for a crib bed. But Now I have 2-layers of closed cell foam tiles. It makes it EZer on little knees. I snaked a rope light through it and put a remote dimmer on it. I used a forstner bit to flush mount the bed side remote. It makes a great child friendly night light. The upstairs gives her a place to get a way from baby sister.

as I see it, two great things came from this project:
1. your daughter got a really cool bed.
2. you got a new router!

that is a very cool bed design. nice work.

Excellent project. When I built my daughter bed, I made it for the long haul from grade school to college and beyond. (bed up top, play area/work area below) Because of past accidents, I wanted no falls from above. The least amount of movement atop while sleeping, and active access and movement below. Your design is probably more fun for your daughter. And to correct you, Yes you did do woodworking, MDF counts.
What child wouldn’t want a playhouse/bed?
