Common Gavel

Made this last week, then dropped it off with a Brother of mine who owns a sign making business who put the Square and Compass on it for me.

I was just messing around with no real intentions of making anything when I cut a scrap piece of 2×6 I had and saw the knot in the wood. I like the way it looked and thought it would look good on the top of a gavel.

I had a nice piece of a furring strip left over from a shelving project which I notched out. Then I chiseled out a mortise to fit it in and glued and clamped it together.

I will be using it tonight when I confer a Second Degree!
