A dogwood ring bowl by Michael Pietras – this unique and simple project serves to provide an easily accessible and visible place for small jewelry pieces to be placed when you have to temporarily remove them. Perfect for a night stand, vanity, or next to the kitchen sink.
Another great example of why we never throw out scrap wood. These were destined for the firewood pile, but we decided to pull a few out and turn some small objects. This is the first completed bowl. Probably should have gotten some better images of the sides but the functionality shows through in this presentation anyway!

Very Nice. How is the inside finished? The only piece of dogwood I have is more yellow/pink in color with streaks of black, hard as a rock.

Waterlox tung oil – sanded I think to 600 grit. It is a pinkish hue and yes it’s pretty hard. It turned quite nicely we have quite a bit of it around in small chunk sizes. So many more of these are likely to appear if they sell.
I added some additional pics in progress that show the sides better.
