Just a hand saw I got from my grandfather. I initially epoxied the cracked handle and while sanding it, I wasn’t happy with how it looked, it was kinda plain looking and a little too small for my hand. So I sketched it up on a piece of Mahogany and got a little crazy with it. It looks wicked. Works great although I only rarely use it now.

it looks like the finger grooves are in the wrong place, but after I fitted it, I needed a little extra knuckle room.

It looks really good to me. Now the only thing left to do is chip carve on it, if you were me that is.

“just” ?? !!!
Great job on the handle. It’s beautiful
Roger: that was exactly what I thought when I first saw it—the handle would be a good place for some chip carving. Oh no.. you have me addicted to chip carving now and I’ve yet to even touch a chip knife!!!

That is a great idea. What did you use to fasten the handle onto the blade? Rivets? If so, how and what tools do you use to do that?

I wonder if you all know the proper name for the screws in the saw handle.
They’re called ”Sex Screws”.

You just might be a lumberjock when you see a hand saw and think “I’m in love.”

Thanks all! I’m not the only wood geek! Ha! It came out a lot nicer than I thought it would. It hangs in my tool room more as a inspiration and reminder than a functioning tool. Picked up some maple ply for a tool cart project I’m hoping to tackle this weekend barring any major honey-do’s, should be fun.

I just took it into my head to see what was happening in the community round about a year ago & I saw (!) this little treasure. Thought it was worth resurrecting.
