This cutting board is approximately 17” x 23” x 1-3/4” and is made of Walnut, Hard Maple, Padauk, and Purpleheart. This is the largest cutting board that I have made so far and it comes in at a nice 16.9lbs! This is also my 25th cutting board and this is the first time I didn’t have to fix any gaps! I treated this board with 7 – 8 coats of General Finishes Salad Bowl Finishing Mix (2 parts Salad Bowl Mix/1 part Mineral Spirits) and sanded in between coats with #0000 steel wool.

LOL! Yeah, it’s a large one but my friend asked me to make a huge cutting board for his ma so I didn’t want to disappoint. I just gave it to her yesterday, she really liked it.

Is she going to use it , or are you making her a smaller one to use on top of this one ?

HAHA! I think she is going to use it, I told her that it’s OK to cut on it. Everyone wants to hang my cutting boards up on the wall or keep them as art, I can’t stand that. I make them to be used, it just so happens they look pretty.

Yup , a lot of that going around : ) I tell them just to cut on one side and leave the other side for show.

That’s a good idea! I just grab a knife and make a nice big slice in the board and then say.. “now what are ya gonna do, might as well use it”. :)
