Haven’t posted here in awhile but thought i would share this project with you. We have had 2 new grand kids in the last 6 months and they needed cradles and so it was off to the shop. This is Camille’s made from quarter sawn white oak and a lttle bit of walnut. This was my biggest project of dovetails to date and i must say i spent alot of time just staring and thinking before i started to cut. Also it was the first time of using trans tint die and wish i had experimented a little more, but i think it turned out ok. The hardware is a design i came up with after searching and searching for cradle hardware and i am lucky to have a great local blacksmith. I had a wonderful time building this and can say Camille uses it every night.

Beautiful. Your children must be very happy with you! The baby is too little to notice what a great grandpa she has but that will come in time.

Looks like a family heirloom … Just imagine your Great-Great Granddaughter will one day be sleeping peacefully in it!

I’ve been collecting cradle designs for a long time. Still haven’t made one yet. I really like this and it will go on my favorites. One thing I like about it is that you don’t have to worry about how far apart the slats are and baby getting his arm stuck etc.

Great design and build on this wonderful cradle. Like the wood, finish and the hardware. Very lucky grand kids!
