I build this table for my oldest daughter’s birthday. I used mortise and tennon joinery for the legs and aprons. the top is secured with buttons. the wood is jatoba. it’s finished with BLO and pastewax.
this is the first project I used mortise and tennon joinery. it’s also the first time making a table with tapered legs.

thanks everyone.
PaulB, it’s nice to see you join up!
I like working with the jatoba. the only issue I have with it is that it leaves a fine layer of red dust on everything!
oh, the other cool thing about this project, one of the guys in my turners group rescued all this wood from the landfill after a local flooring company dropped of their scraps!

Wonderful looking. I made a bedside table of Black Walnut with Butternut aprons wherein the top is shaped
nearly identical to what you selected for an edge treatment. GMTA. ;-)

Darryl,
This is a nice table. Brazillian cherry is a nice wood to work with but it is a little hard on saw blades. You did a good job on the construction and finish of this project and nice score on the wood as well. Using offcuts and discards from a flooring job is a nice source of wood.
Well done.

Very nice!!... I like the “rescue effort!” There’s nothing like taking something from nothing and making it new again… You’ve done a great job here, all the way around.

I like that third photo. It says it all. Great finish and sound joinery.

thanks again for the compliments guys, it is appreciated.
No stain on this one Mike, that color is all natural!
the “rescue effort” makes the transformation from lumber to furniture all that much more fun for me.
the third photo is my favorite as well.
I have two more daughters that will need one, so I look forward to building two more!
