While tinkering in the garage the other night while the temps were above freezing I decided to try dovetails for the first time. I Cut the tails with the bandsaw and the tails with a wimpy coping saw. I found it to be very therapeutic but then I realized that to do it right it it is going to cost me a few more new tools. I see a dovetail saw and some chisels in my future

Awesome job. Glad to see your expanding your woodworking skills. I just completed my first project using dovetails. Check it out here. Keep on working on your dovetails.

Keep on working on your dovetails. Read books, watch videos and practice, practice and more practice.
But it’s true: a dovetail saw and some good chisels will help a lot.
Accurate layout and precise transferring are also part of getting sharp and clean dovetails.
When I work on some dovetails, I forget everything…....
