I rec,d a Post Office box door bank as a gift many years ago & have always had it sitting on my dresser. When my Grandson’s, Jack & Sam come over they say Granpa we want “all you Money” so i give them my change & they go put it in my bank. When it gets full I split the proceeds up between the 2 boys. I thought they should have one made by Granpa so I found a couple doors on e-bay & this is the finished product for Jack. His Birthday was Jan 14, so @ his party this was the 2nd randomly selected gift to be opened, it got passed around, & lots of people slipped a little money into the bank. They headed home wihtout the combination so now I am in the drivers seat. LOL a few days later the text comes ” what’s the combination for Jack’s bank?” So of course I sent it to them. Upon opening it there was over $60.00 in the bank. guess i should have kept that combo LOL. Any way the bank is made from Black Walnut with Deft rattle can gloss lacquer then steel wool smooth & Minwax for the final rub down. (first time I have used wax on wood & it worked great). The coin slot came from rockler. The lettering on the door is a decal from local Auto Trim Design Shop shaded in blue his favorite color, and the #’s are his Birthdate. I have another one made from Cherry for Sam’s 4th birthday coming up in April. Thanks for looking.

The arched top added a nice dimension to the project. Glad to see you made it special and not a cookie cutter same o same o.

A great and special gift to the grand kids, teach them how to save money. Love the wood and build of the coin bank.
