Thought I would take this opportunity to do a tribute to my Mother. The pendant measures 1 3/4” x 2 1/2×1/4”. Woods are Rosewood, Kingwood, Bloodwood, Canary and Basswood. I designed the pendant then traced a picture of my mother for the profile. My original drawing was 4” high. I then reduced it on the copy machine. I used the filigree design since that was her favorite jewelry. The dress design was one that I remember she made for herself. I used canary for her hair so it was reflective since her hair was platinum blonde. It is finished in satin spray.
She was an elegant, classy lady who believed her most important job was raising her three children. She taught us that you can do anything you want if you just put your mind to it and are willing to work. A successful businesswoman, beautician, seamstress and accomplished pianist. She lost a courageous battle with breast cancer at only 55 years old. It’s been over 35 years now, but her teachings live on. I believe she sees all the projects I’ve done. I do know her response would be a hearty chuckle and her comment would have been…... “all this talent from my little 4th grade daughter who once told her art teacher that she was worried she might not pass the class”!

Great tribute to your mother, and very nicely done on your version of a Cameo pendant! Nice story to go with it as your write up makes your work all the more special.
