Built in Bookcases

Some friends asked me to help make their living room complete with a set of custom bookcases.

The center design on the fireplace wall had been done by the original owner some 25 years ago and they wanted the new to blend with the old.

So knotty pine boards were selected, sanded, and stained.

The shelves are adjustable thanks to a Kreg shelf hole jig.

The cabinets were also made of solid pine except for the door centers which are sanded pine plywood.

The center portion was also sanded down and given a few fresh coats of finish.

Hidden speaker wires come up from the subfloor.

Wow!

This inspired me! I am looking to do a remodel of my living room and instead of the fire place I could put in a large screen TV on my bare wall .

Looks great. I’m a sucker for bookcases (and of course, books), so this is especially appealing to me. Again, great job.

Fantastic work! Like the center design which highlights the fireplace, great bookcase with additional storage. Perfect fit!
