Floating book shelf

I wanted to make a book shelf that appeared to float on the wall. This is my design. The shelf is attached to the wall via keyhole slots cut into the shelf with two entry holes 16” apart to allow for the stud spacing. As you can see the vertical on pic 4, does not touch the wall also giving the illusion of floating off the wall. The book supports are made just like a mitre gauge for the tablesaw. They are a little bit thicker than the dado is deep so that the weight of the books prevent them from moving. I also glued some sandpaper on the bottom as extra security.

Cool idea, makes you want to rush over and hold one end up. Neat.

Oh, and just by chance a boat book seems to be tipping the balance. :-)
