Project Story:

This is a walking cane that I carved in Red Oak, and was a concept that I had been thinking about for several months, and finally took the time to work out the idea in actual wood. The handle is from a Kansas Elk Natural Shed, with synthetic ivory caps. The scrimshaw artwork on both handle caps continues the oak leaf theme.

Thanks for looking,

The carving and scrimshaw work are exquisite. This is another beautiful piece.

Thanks for the post.

I really like the figured base it gives this the look of age. It goes with the quote well “acorns become mighty oaks”.

Mark, as usual, you’ve done great work. I love anything with an oak theme. The scrimshaw is awesome. You’ve got some amazing talent.

Very nicely done Mark! The scrimshaw makes the theme flow.
