This table was a fun experiment. The glass table top is bounty from a construction site dumpster and I had some 2×6 maple so I decided to make an exterior table.
I wanted it strong but not too bulky. I used stock aluminum L as a kind of cast for the center column to maximize leg room and strength. Each leg is identical with a 1.5” thick, triangle ‘tongue’ that is screwed (with very large screws) into the column. I used strips of cork to cushion the ridiculously heavy glass and cut them back to display the joinery. There is a little bit of lateral twist in the column, but vertically, the leg joints are surprisingly rigid.

Looks good, nice blending of meal and wood. The cork is a nice contrast to light color of the rest of the table.
Good job, Nate

Nate,
Once again a nice blending of different materials. I like the design of the table.
Well done.

great table Nate! and nice repurposing of the “found” glass top. The center detail is well composed and the dark cork really sets it off!

I like the clean sharp lines of the legs and the top is a great find. The cork does made to stand out and the perfect joints should be shown off. Great project.

Beautiful table, love the use of maple and the use of aluminum in contrast, it really is a nice design. You should be proud. mike
