Keepsake Box

This is a keepsake box I made for my daughter’s friend for Christmas, slightly modified from the one called a “Curved Treasure Box” on the Woodsmith Shop. Made of Tazalam (Mayan Walnut?) for the body, and Paduck for the sides.

Finished with Danish Oil, then 10 coats of hand-applied lacquer. The lacquer was rubbed out with sandpaper up to 2000 grit, then pumice, rottenstone, then finally Turtle Wax auto polish. The ends are joined to the body with dowels and epoxy.

Nice box but the photos are really dark..making it difficult to see.

Nice woods and great finish. My favorite pic is the last one where it’s velcro’d to the wall. LOL

Looks like you’ve got a very nice finish on it.
