I love it. Is it one of those faces you print yourself? I see more and more of those. I wonder about wax over poly, seems redundant. Is the poly satin or clear?

I designed the clock face – though I borrowed somewhat from other designs. I had a company actually print it on archival paper, rather than just an inkjet print.
The poly was semi; the wax just gives it this soft luster….

I just wondered about the finish. I’ve used shellac to seal the pours before poly or wax, but I never used them both.
I like the face design, it’s really hard to find anything that is different in faces these days.

I’m sorry Russell, I should have said I used SealCoat initially….I also put a light coat of cherry colored stain on it as well to at least get the cherry color started…..then the poly and wax :)

I really like this—especially that it’s in cherry. Really nice design. I will be taking this design idea to the shop this week.
Wow! Simple and classy. Very nice!

Nice font, looks like the Roycroft lettering. I really like this clock too.
Question for you on the pegs… since you ebonized them, you must have colored them before you tapped them in. How did you tap them in without damaging the pyramid shape?
Thanks

pintodeluxe- they are simply very short cut-offs, glued on. I cut the pyramids on the table saw, using square stock, then carefully cut them off at the bandsaw, ebonizing them with stain before I did. I found this to be expedient and just as attractive. As an alternative, one could use clavos.

Thanks for the tip about designing and having the face printed. Sounds like fun.
