Project Information

I began this portrait last night. All in all took about 10 hrs. It's 11×16. The photo is from the opening of Rideout Tool and Machine's St. John's Newfoundland store back in 1940. In the photo - Rowland Rideout, his wife and the tall guy is Andre Richard (Rocket Richards brother) No idea why he is there but he is.

Reason for the portrait. Rideout tools have been so helpful to Matthew and I that I wanted to do this as a gift for all they do. I have a few more to do for some others helpers as well. Anyhoodle, here is the finished portrait for Rideout tools.

a1Jim, thanks :) It's all in the quick change blade and tensioning device on the Excalibur. If I were to do this on a scroll saw that used tools for blade changes, this would be murderous to take on.

All I can say is "Wow", I have just started scroll sawing, I hope to be able to do that in a few hundred years time.

I think the guy in middle is Henri Richard, 5'7''. Also known as Pocket Rocket. brother of Maurice Richard both Montreal's Canadien stars.
Henri just died very recently; He died at 84 on march 4 or 5.
