I made this bench a couple of years ago for my youngest daughter and her family. They asked if I could build a bench that looks like the one in the last posted pic. This was the first bench I had ever attempted but it came out ok. It is built using treated pine 2×8 and 6×6.

Really nice looking bench. I think you did a great job duplicating the original. Is it an angled back?

Thanks, yes the back is tapered from the bottom of the back slats to the top. Cutting the taper was the most difficult part with the tools that I had at that time. I cheated and used wood filler to cover the screws. Bought a set of countersink bits shortly after I completed this one swearing that I would not cheapen the look of another project with filler.
