This was one of my first projects more than 20 years ago. I think the plan came out of Wood magazine. The Mallet is filled with BB’s and epoxy to give it some heft. The handle is tapered at the end which makes it easy to hold on to.

The mallet has held up well and has seen plenty of abuse. I was concerned about the leather holding up but I’ve never had a problem with it. I would use it again. It helps to prevent damaging the surface being struck.
