Cedar Birdhouse

I made this all cedar birdfeeder after the squirrels chewed up the plastic one I had on my deck. The top removes completely to fill it. I have a “diverter” at the bottom to spread the seed to the outside. The short view window on each side allows me to see when I’m low on seed. I have the view windows so that they slide up/down in a routed groove in the sides. That allows me to lower or raise it slightly for when I put sunflower seeds vs mixed bird seed in, which flows differently. It can either sit on a post or deck rail, or I can hang it if wanted by adding a short piece of wire or chain.

This looks really nice Dennis! I love how pretty cedar is. Good design, too to keep the squirrels away! :)

Yes Doug I made a mistake. I was debating on w hether I was going to post a feeder or house for my first project and I guess I had houses on my mind when typing. Sorry about the mistake, I’ll edit that shortly. And thanks for your compliment Shelia.Ut

Now you’ve got to build a squirel catapult to deter those rodents from dining at the new feed for the birds. Nice job.

Thanks Doug. I’ve seen videos on U tube of people making obstacle courses made up for squirrels. I would love to do that, lol.
