Here’s a mallet I turned out last weekend. The head of the mallet is a glue-up of some 8/4 afromosia sample block I’ve had laying around for a couple years and the handle is from a little piece of 8/4 ash. The afromosia is some seriously dense/hard stuff. It took longer to sand out some tear out on the mallet head than it did to turn the handle and head… A few coats of a tung oil wiping varnish and it’s ready to go. Thanks for checking it out.

Good looking mallet and very well built. Will be a very useful hand tool in the shop.
