Project Information

Last fall, we made three mobile carts for Santa Claus to use at Photos with Santa at the Tanglewood Festival of Lights in Clemmons, NC. This is where people paid for their photos, and anything else they decided to pick up in our tent. It's 4 feet wide and 18 inches deep-the lower top is 18 inches by 18 inches and where the cash register goes. The upper top is where the transaction takes place, as well as where we had out iPad stand for taking credit cards. The back-where the cashier stands-has a lockable door that accesses plenty of storage inside of the cart. This cart survived six weeks of field tests, and the only casualty was one caster that was far too cheap (see my blog post on casters).

Dan, I just looked at all three of these. Would you mind if I borrowed some of the ideas? I really like this one to contain a register unit and make it mobile. W used an old cabinet we had this year at our light show and I think this would fit in great in its place.
I made up the Flashing Bling Displays for the show and would love to add to the theme for next year.

Thanks so much for posting.

Absolutely! I think one of the "points" of LumberJocks is to glean ideas and inspiration from each others' projects. I can't tell you how many projects I've seen that have inspired me to build something similar. I've favorited only a fraction of them…. So I'm honored that you found something in my projects that have inspired you.

My favorite cart, at least for the concept of it, is the red desk cart. I absolutely love how the two work surfaces stack when it closes…. My mother-in-law, though, thinks the green merchandise cart is the bee's knees. LOL
