Last fall, we made three mobile carts for Santa Claus to use at Photos with Santa at the Tanglewood Festival of Lights in Clemmons, NC. This is a merchandise cart that’s meant for quite setup and take-down, much like you would need at a trade show. The lower shelf is about 2 feet above the floor, which is perfect for merchandise for kids. The upper shelf is about 3 feet above the floor, more suited for merchandise for adults. Then the very top is peg board for hanging merchandise on. Inside is a fair bit of storage for extra merchandise, as well as a safe place to put the merchandise on the upper and lower shelves when to take the cart down. When you’re done, lift the pegboard straight up, and it becomes the back. Four pins through the side holds the back in place.
There are several things here that I would do different if I were to do this again, but it survived six grueling weeks in the field, so to speak, and came out on top. Not bad for a prototype.

Good job Dan. It sure is nice to be able to make something to fill a need rather than having to buy it. You must have built it tough to handle 6 weeks of use.
