One day, when I was out with my wife, we spotted a display for some high-end headphones. I was admiring the nicely curved lines of the bent plywood they used to make the display when my wife commented, “That would make a great way to store hair bands.” A few days later, I was staring at a fairly large piece of walnut in my shop—and few hours after that, this was taking shape. I laminated 2 thick pieces to make it even thicker before I cut out the shape on the bandsaw. I hadn’t made the decision to drill the eye holes until it was pretty much done. Anyway, this is the result. The last photo shows it being used for it’s intended purpose. (By the way, she loves it!)

Wouldn’t be right without the eye holes. I love how the walnut grain kinda looks like hair.

Those are my favorite kind of projects…someone mentions something something, I mull it around, it comes out of the shop. Nice job.

Neat idea! Like the design especially the eyes and mouth which can also be used as storage for smaller stuff or trinkets.
