This is a cherry nightstand based on a similar style I saw on-line. It’s stained in Colonial Maple to keep the color light. The style is Arts and Crafts, with a McIntosh style cabinet door. The decorative wood is walnut. This was my first attempt at doing dovetail slides for the drawer. I spent about a day sanding different spots to get it to open and close smoothly. You’re never exactly sure what’s binding till you find it.
All of the joinery is mortise and tenon except for the tabletop and base. Those are pocket holes. The slats for the cabinet door were the trickiest. They just didn’t seem to want to line up right. And yes, I did half blind dovetails for the drawer. Oh, the drawer is maple. I had some left over from a previous project and it seemed like the right thing to use. The inside drawer slide is mahogany.
