Ranger Box

In a former life, my friend was an infantryman with various well-known and celebrated units. He’s now a communications officer, but often waxes poetic about his exploits as a paratrooper and Ranger. This was originally meant as a pistol box, but I think it’s a bit small for the average handgun. I hope he can find some use out of this in case his .45 doesn’t fit.

The box is built from cumaru and maple, joined with box joints and finished with a varnish blend. The neat thing about it is that it changes color depending on the lighting and angle.

Nice box. Really like the lettering. If it don.t hold his .45 i.m sure it will be perfect for his CAB and jump wings ect.

Great work, great box. How was the lettering done? Carved by hand? CNC? Cut out and glued in? or something else?

Thanks everyone!

Todd, I used a CNC on a leftover piece of curly maple then sandwiched it between some cumaru. Here are a few photos:

Awesome box especially the lettering. It’s really well done with the beautiful finish.
