Greeting, fellow Lumberjocks,
This is my first posting so I figured I would post one of my favorite projects. This is the first of three cradles I have build for my grandchildren. This one was for for my firstborn grandson. It is a glider cradle that converts to a glider bench once they outgrow the need for a cradle. This one is made of quartersawn white oak with the name plate being made of bubinga and maple. Each of the cradles are made personal for each grandbaby and I seal up a letter under the seat from grandpa that they will find when they convert it back into a cradle for their own children.

That’s a great cradle. I really like the idea of converting it to a bench and back.
Very nice job!

Jack,
This is a nice project. I really like the idea of being able to convert it back and forth between a glider and a cradle. Personalizing each one was a nice thought as well. Well done!!
Thanks for the post and the story behind it. I feel that often the story is as important as the project itself. Putting a letter in the cradle is a wonderful idea.
Thanks for sharing.

Great project. Where did you get the plans, or did you design it yourself?

Actually I saw a picture of a glider cradle that gave me the idea, then I designed this one myself. Glad you like it.
