What a tricky contest. Ask woodworkers to make jewelry and then what? It seems like one of those projects that you have to give away. So I did. Now the tricky part…. Explain that you really only made the ring for a contest but you wanted her to have it anyway. Here it is! I made this ring for my girlfriend (the contest winter 2013). It is sugar maple and the jewel is a orange treasure spot that I found in a piece of recycled cargo skid from indonesia. I posted pictures of the rough lumber at early stages of fabrication. Thank-you in advance for any votes. I am used to working with huge pieces of wood, so this was a fun, delicate little challenge.

“explain that you really only made the ring for a contest but you wanted her to have it anyway”—oops!
I bet she loved it anyway.

Lovely ring, even looks lovelier on a woman’s delicate fingers. Great job!
