Black Walnut and Spalted Elm Blanket Chest

A Birthday gift for my wife, the legs and top are from the darkest black walnut I’ve seen no dye/stain was used, I can only imagine what it’ll look like after it ages a bit. Of course cedar lined with stay hinges, the finish is shellac.
My biggest “mistake” might be not filling the grain but we’ll see …..enjoy

Very nice. I especially like the curved legs and the shape of the panels.

Very nice. I’m sure your wife loves it.. I’ve noticed that as walnut ages, it lightens up and takes on a warmer tone. Wait and you will see.

Quite eye-catching! I like the not too overstated details. The proportion of slope on the front panels and raised panels. A REALLY nice accomplishment.

Beautiful wood combo. And the panel and leg shapes make yours unique. Great job.
