This was my first project. I was trolling through LJ and found the idea. I figured it would quick and easy to make. A few mistakes, over did it some on the glue.

She is not the prettiest thing, but she has already proven useful.

I think I will try to polish her up a bit and see how it turns out.

Good work!

I use a wet paper towel when gluing up projects, it really wipes the wood glue off well. Any remainder you can sand off. Throw a little BLO (Boiled Linseed Oil) or something like that on it and it will really make it look cool and make it feel better.

Mallets always come in handy, welcome to LJ’s!

It’s a mallet. For most of the things that a mallet is used for, pretty ain’t important. The only thing that I would suggest is to try rounding the handle a bit more to make it more comfortable in the hand. Otherwise, wack away.

Lots of fun. good start
I love using tools i have made.

You should paint a lighting bolt on it.. Maybe give it a name like “Thor” or “The Whacker”

I like the shape of the handle of your Noggin’ Knocker, what did you use to get it that way? And I know it is a mallet, but I know I can do better, and I want to get better at woodworking.

It is called the “Homework Hammer”, used to encourage sixth graders to get their homework done.

Although it’s nice to be “pretty”, functional is still more important with tools.

Good job, Welcome to LJ’s
