Well the floor joists are on but now I need to go in to the sawmill by boat and bring out the board for the floor and of course the wind brings the drift ice in and blocks of the cove . So now we are in wait mode
One step foward and then wait.

Well thats a real bummer. It does give me some perspective though. I thought I was cold this morning with the low about 45 degrees, and the expected high about 70. I hope you can get your supplies soon. I am real interested in your shop progress. I think you have more lumber in your floor joist than I have in my lil shop/shed. Hang in there.

This is looking even better. One question I have is this entire structure going to be your shop? It looks bigger than I would expect for a 26×32 footprint.

Bummer having to wait on the weather.

By the way I really admire the route that you are taking on this construction process. Cutting/drying your own lumber and having to haul it back and forth to and from the sawmill via ferry is certainly an effort in itself.

Keep the updates coming. I am enjoying seeing the progress on this project.

I got a little PO’d this morning when it started flurrying at my shop. At least there’s not ice in my ‘driveway’.

Well I managed to get in through the drift ice to the mill and pick up the wood for the floor.

We still have a lot of drift ice around. This is in the cove at low tide this afternoon. Great ice to mix in your drink. It is as hard as stone and it melts very slow

Better weather on the way so hopefully get the floor nailed this weekend.
This was in the harbour when we came back

Wow …I would surely be afraid my Dewalt 735 was gonna end up as an anchor at the bottom of the bay …
and I always wondered why anyone would want to live in Minnesota …let alone Quebec …just kidding …I am sure some time of the year it is really nice …

Okay, so I don’t have pack ice and flows to deal with but hey, how about having to dodge alligators on the way to the sawmill? Oh, and it’s already in the high 80s this week. I could use a chunk of that stuff for my iced tea.

Looks great, you’ll have a great space for making sawdust for sure when it’s done. Good luck, mon ami.

A bientot,
