Disappearing Assembly Table

Because my shop is already crowded for space, I wanted to have an assembly table that could quickly get out of the way when not used, but just as quick be there when I needed it.

I was able to accomplish this due to the fact that most of my tools are now on mobile stands. I created a table that will easily fold down and only take up about three inches of wall space. My mobile tools then can just sit in front of it and it totally disappears when not in use!

Overall, the table is around 3 feet deep and 4 feet wide. I glued up two sheets of 3/4” plywood so it’s plenty strong. The legs are 1 1/2” PVC pipe and they thread into couplings glued in the underside of the table when in use – they store to the sides of the table when folded.

I put two coats of spar varnish on the top to give it somewhat of a fighting chance – when it gets dinged up I won’t mind a bit.

Pretty simple, but WAY useful – especially in such a crowded shop!

Cheers!

It works. I think this is a fine idea.

This is a real cool way to have a little extra space now and then. I am sure that lots will appreciate this idea! :)

Nice work, Bob!
