Oak Burl Canister with Live Lid. This was and idea I was using for smaller ring boxes, but decided to use a bigger piece of this burl to see what it would turn out like.(no pun intended) Normally I would hesitate to use so much of this awesome piece of timber. As you can see, It has voids and cracks, like most burl, which can be filled but I rather like the look of natural defects. This particular piece is great with some white rot spalt and a few worm trails through it. The part for the lid features the dead bark found in the middle of normal live bark. Very unique wood from a side burl. Thanks for Looking!
