I had made a couple of these before for the family and my secretary saw them and wanted one for her father for Christmas, so I made another. I messed up a little on the board so a friend suggested doing an inlay with purple heart to fix it. The inlay turned out pretty decent, but harder than I thought it would be.

It looks good to me. Are the woods maple, walnut and the purpleheart? What is the finish? Why the two tops? TIA!

Yes, maple, walnut and purple heart and the finishi is minwax clear gloss with several coats. It’s not two tops, I just glued it onto another maple base just to strengthen it as well as add a little contrast. Thanks for the comments!
