RobH’s post reminded that I had not yet posted anything about my recent garage additions, like his it is not fine woodworking but strictly Utilitarian.

My garage needed some organizing…

So since I had a 4 day weekend and a pile of scrap wood that I got from Craigslist and Freecycle (I love those groups) I decided to see what I could come up with.
First for the camping storage area. I have a lot of gear and as you can see from the above picture the current setup was rather hard to get to.
This is what I came up with…

It is all made out of 2×4 and chipboard, I Kreg Joined all the joints which made building it in the space easier. Basically I did all the prep work before moved a single thing out of the corner then just moved all the gear to the other side of the garage, built the unit and loaded it up.
The other area was Lawn and Garden mostly as well as some car maintenance items…
The two photos on the project show my solution here and hopefully I will get a better photo this weekend, right now i loaded it up with a lot of stuff from down stairs due to my water in the basement (mentioned in my latest blog posting) The work surface is painted plywood and the rest of the shelves are all chipboard.. I agian Kreg Joined the entire thing together. The pegboard that was originally on the wall was recycled into the project.

The whole project took me the 4 days plus a little longer due to the basement interuption. Most certainly a big help. Now the wife wants me to get to work on the new pantry for the front of the garage and I want to build a toy area for my daughter to store stuff. Sure those projects will show up here eventually.

You know, first I thought you had taken a picture of my cluttered garage there! But then I realized that, no- you could see some floor there around the lawnmower, so that beats mine, hands down! I like the idea for the storage directly behind the garage door area. I may have to borrow some of those ideas also.

Nice job. Looks like one more thing to add to the “to do” list.

Looks like a handy addition to the Garage, clieb. May I ask why you chose to put the Pocket-Holes on the OUTSIDE of each joint? Was it just for ease-of-assembly? It is in the garage afterall! :) Well done, this looks like a very sturdy storage solution!
