Small play table built from poplar slats colored to look like a xylophone and cherry legs with mineral oil. It’s only about 20 inches high and was painte with nontoxic paint. I bought the chair at Ikea to match and seems to be a good fit.

I’m a sucker for colour in woodworking but there’s more than that here with your great idea of the xylophone style. Just perfect I’d say.gene

Very nice looking table, now you will have to get him a xylophone so he knows what his table looks like. LOLOn the serious side, what, who’s paint did you use? I was going to do things for Christmas but true child safe paint put that stuff on hold.

Information I found was that enamel paint when hardened is non toxic. I know that there is a brand called ‘Mythic’ which makes specifically non toxic paint. But as for a ‘child safe’ paint? Not sure. This table was for a two year old, which was past any teething age and I was confident that just playing on it daily wouldn’t be a issue.

This is a great table for small children. Nice build and finish too.

Sparkyy, thanks I check it out. My niece has kids 6 to newborn, lol and likely more so the teething thing is a real issue for me. So does the grandson have a xylophone?
