First attempt at turning

I took a one day turning taster class today, and this is what I made :)
There were a few hiccups along the way (to be expected I guess, as a total beginner), and it’s harder than it looks! Fun though.

The bowl is 160mm diameter, solid cherry, finished with cellulose sanding sealer and briwax.

Excellent first bowl ! The 4th pix shows what looks like a forstner bit hole. Is that how the piece was initially chucked on the lathe ? If so, not a bad idea. Hadn’t thought of doing that.

Looks great, nice shiny finish, might have to get some briwax. Good early project, looking forward to seeing the next.

Very good piece for your first turning! Good job of sanding, I can see no sanding rings so you passed the first test! Nice shape and great show of wood grains. Welcome to the “turning club”
