Ebony and Maple carvers mallet

They had a mallet trade at Woodbarter, and I’ve never made one, so I thought ‘what the hell’ and made this. I knew that there was figure inside that old Ebony tree, but this is much, much more than I imagined! I really like it when the wood exceeds your expectations! Its a carver’s mallet. Its round so that glancing blows can help re-direct the cutting edge on the carving tool. I hope y’all like it as much as I do.

Well it sure is beautiful! Probably one of the nicest carving mallets I’ve seen.

Oh so nice ! Love that grain and the handle looks very comfortable. How big is it overall ?
