Tool Cabinet

In an effort to keep my hand-tools close and easy to get to I am in the process of building a Hanging tool cabinet for them. This cabinet is made out of some old lumber that a friend gave me. I still need to put the drawer fronts on as well as a few other tweaks before it is complete. My long term goal is to move away from machine tools for everything except ruff dimensioning of projects.

Looks great. I like the way the drawers stand proud of the cabinet (in the open position). They look a lot more useful than the shallow drawers I’ve seen in other designs. It’s cool to see that somebody has so many of the exact same tools as I have.

Really nice cabinet. I’m looking to build something similar for my growing collection of tools. So I can get a better estimate on size versus capacity, what are the overall dimensions of your cabinet? It also looks like there are several hand saws just to the left of the plane till. Am I seeing that correct? And are the drawers part of the cabinet or are they separate? It is hard to tell from your description and the picture. Was there a example that you modeled yours after or was it just your plan?

Thanks for any additional info you can pass on.

Wow very organized and neat cabinet. Like that it’s open and can see the beautiful collection of hung hand tools. Way better than the drawer type ones.
