4×8” Boxelder bowl my favorite wood to turn and finish, many coats of oil built up to a gloss finsh…I found a few chunks of this wood at the curb from storm damage there was another guy there grabbing the wood to burn I tried to reason with him but he drove off with some really nice burl…

Nice bowl and nice wood. What a shame that guy didn’t know the value of his ‘firewood’.

Really like your bowl. I am am becoming a box elder fan. Any hints on recognizing the tree or limbs so I can be on the look out for it?

Hi socbret…it should be all over your area it grows crooked in clumps most people dislike it…it even has it’s own bug named after it so it get rotton and falls over…sawmill guys don’t like it is to bent and full of bugs and stress much like me so it is great for wood turning I added a couple new pic of the raw wood for you….
