This is a “Lyre Thumb-Stick” I was hired to make for a friend’s father. It is made with a Curly Maple Top mounted on a Hazel shank with a Black Buffalo Horn spacer and brass ferrule at the tip. It has been finished with several costs of Danish Oil with a top coat of spray Spar Varnish.

Yours are the first “thumb sticks” I’ve ever seen. Cool design and look like a useful self defense item as well!

Thanks for the feedback, I have never used 1 in self-defense but they could be useful. These are very common designs for walking sticks in the UK, once I discovered some of the work done over there I was hooked on the design.
