This is a Rustic Juniper 6 Drawer Dresser I finished for a local customer recently, who requested and commissioned a Queen size, log free-form headboard and footboard, with a dresser that matched.
The picture may be a little confusing so I will explain, in the background is a 7 foot mantle that is 4 inches thick that I cut out of the center of the log so it is not part of the dresser. The top of the dresser is 1.5 inches thick and 21 ” wide and 51” long and has the natural edge to the front. It is also out of the same log.
The dresser is 36” tall.
The drawers are 1” thick and have the natural edge. The natural edge can be challenging because sometimes you do not have straight lines to reference for placement so it forces you to think out of the box so to speak…. But I found the best way is to just pull out the ole tape measure and “eye-ball” it and come up with a “nominal placement” and just use your gut instinct. Also sometimes you have to let the curve of the edge of a neighboring drawer fit into the curve of another. Hence, I numbered the drawers on the side :) So I would not forget… As for the finish I used a blend of oils; linseed, and tung oils with a little cedar tone stain which darkens it up slightly which I prefer. The drawers are 16” deep and 20.5 ” wide and 7.25” tall and I used self closing euro-style side mount drawer slides which make it easy to open and close the drawers. The customer has limited strength due to health issues. There are no drawer pulls at their request but you really do not need any.
I am working on some matching nightstands for a future addition to this line.

This is a wonderful looking dresser. I am sure that the construction must be more challenging than traditional pieces given the irregularity of the wood that you must use.
Well done. The wood is simply gorgeous.
Thanks for the post.

Thanx for the kind comments ya’ll… I have not been in Maine since 1978 before I was deployed to the Panama Canal’s jungle for four years and ate iguana and monkey meat up in the canopy and tried to overthrow Torrijos…better to say nothing :)
