Some simple shadow boxes I made today, and with that being said my first project in 2013. Well I was deployed I had 3 flags flown for my wife and boys on their Birthdays. My youngest sons is in September and he was the first to receive his, my wife went to Michaels and picked up the shadow box and frame. After the other two showed up she was on vacation and then I came home shortly after and we never got around to pick some boxes up. I figured this would be a great way to start the year off with something simple. I took the original box (center of 2nd picture) and copied it, I changed them from the original but they are very similar.

I used some left of wood that I had laying around when I made planks for my kids bunk beds, chalkboard paint and then some clear coat. Nothing fancy but something to finally get them out of the boxes.

I will be making frames for the certificates that come with them in the near future and I hope to replace the store bought one from my wife with something a little more classy.

I am a scout who is looking for a flag shadow box I can make lots of for my Eagle Project. I want to make one for all of the schools in my school district and then get them new flags. Your shadow box looks nice and maybe something I could make. Are you willing to tell me how you did it?

I will try to come up with some instructions, I am really bad at explaining what I did, for the most part I copied the one that my wife purchased from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby ( not sure which one), I used the measurements from that one. I used plexiglass from Lowe’s, like I said let me see what I can come with and I will get back to you.

Sorry for the longer wait.

Thanks. That would be great. It would help me a bunch. Whenever you have time would be fine.

Have your say...
